Alexandra Infant School

The sun really shone at the launch of this outdoor reading room in Beckenham! The parents and teachers at Alexandra Infants School have been fundraising all year to purchase a reading hut for their playground. Once enough money had been raised, the premises team and a parent from the school constructed the hut. The school then got in touch with ABC to ask for help decorating and filling it with lots of donated pre-loved books and we were only too happy to help! The children decided they would like a space theme and, using the drawings created by the pupils, ABC were delighted to present the school with their newly decorated hut entitled 'A Secret Space'.

Acorn Estate Agents in Sydenham collected 700 books for the library and branch manager Taylor Moutarde cut the ribbon at the Year 2 launch event. He was blown away by the reaction from the children and said

"It's great seeing the faces of the children so thrilled with their new library. It really shows what a difference ABC Book Club makes."

The Governors, PTA and Senior Leadership Team were all present at the launch and were excited to show the pupils the books and finishing touches ABC Book Club had made to their new reading room. They all agreed that the space man holding a school logo flag on the wall panels was one of their favourite parts as it really made the hut feel as though it belonged to them!

We hope the school enjoy their Secret Space for many years to come.
